Barney Storey VC St Raphael and Neil Fachie Ythan CC came out on top to win the Swinnerton Cycles sponsored National Tandem Sprint Championship after some very close racing. The pairing qualified fasted and held off Bruce Croal and Kenneth Ayre City of Edinburgh in the final 2-0. This added the National Tandem Sprint Championship to their long list of wins that include a Gold medals from major Paralympic events. Seasoned riders John Saysell and Ben Elliott came third beating Pete Boyd and David Heald of VC St Raphael 2-1.

Swinnerton Cycles sponsored North Region Youth Omnium
Under 16 Boys
A big field of 34 under 16 boys battled over the 5 Swinnerton Cycles sponsored Omnium events, with some fast and furious racing as soon as the scratch race started. Charlie Tanfield from Velo 29 was the top rider on the day, taking a well deserved win from Leon Gledhill Planet X. With the fight for 3rd place being extremely close, 4 riders tied on 32 points, only separated by the way they finished in the final Time Trial. All the riders are to be commended for an excellent display of riding ahead of their years. They gave the crowd some excellent racing that made my legs ache just watching! We have some real talent here for the future in the North Region.
