07/12/2008 – Inter Club Roller Racing 2008
The second round of the Inter-Club competition took place on Saturday at St John Fisher High School, Newcastle between teams from Newcastle Track Cycling Association and Eastlands Velo from Manchester. After Eastlands had won the first track event at Manchester earlier this month, the Newcastle team put out a strong side and hopes were high that they could come away with a victory.
After 24 races consisting of events for under 10?s, under 12?s, under 14?s and under 16?s the final points scores revealed that Newcastle had won with 78 points to Eastlands 66.
In the Under 10 boys and girls events Newcastle were dominant with Archie Scott winning his two races and Sophie Capewell winning her three individual races in fine style. In the under 12?s races Paige Millward won her three races and Luke Selibas won one of his events. The 14 years and under races saw Sassan Emadi win one event and Imogen Crooks score well with her three second places. In the under 16?s events Declan Byrne was the top points scorer with one win and two second places, followed by Kian Emadi with one win and one second place.
In the ever popular team sprint events, Newcastle won one race and Eastlands two, with some fast times achieved.
All the Newcastle riders rode superbly and all contributed to achieving this excellent win. Thanks must go to all the helpers at the event and also to Caroline Birchall who booked and arranged the venue.
